Apprenticeship Campaign: Target Met

John on site as part of Apprenticeship Week

I am a great believer in apprenticeship. I have talked about the career possibilities here, and went for a trim at Fielden Park here, thanks to an apprentice.

Latest full year figures show that apprenticeships in Manchester went up from 2580 to 4760 last year, an 84% rise. In Withington Constituency, the figures went to from 350 to 630, an 80% rise.

In february, as part of National Apprentice Week, I wrote to a thousand local businesses asking them to consider taking on an apprentice. I set a target of 100 new apprentices locally. Well, that target has been met, and beaten.

In the year so far, 490 new apprentices have been taken on in the constituency. Thank You to all the businesses locally who have supported the campaign. I hope it has worked out for both you and your apprentice.
