Ronald McDonald House

This week I was invited to visit the new Ronald McDonald House next to the Children’s Hospital in Manchester. Costing £7.5 million to build and £500, 000 to run each year, the house provides vital free accommodation for the families of sick children at the hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities have been going since 1974. It was established in the UK in 1989 and now provides a “home away from home” at numerous hospitals around the country, with over 400 bedrooms available every night of the year.

Roger Khoryati, who is the franchisee of the McDonalds restaurants in my constituency in Chorlton, West Didsbury and Fallowfield is the Chairman of the fundraising committee, invited me along to see the great new facilities that are available to families.

The “House” on Hathersage Road, opened its doors to families in May, and has already helped hundreds of families.
