Beech Road Festival

On Sunday I attended the Beech Road Festival in Chorlton with Lib Dem councillors from Chorlton and Chorlton Park ward. Over the years this has turned into a massive event from the Green along Beech Road and into Beech Road Park.
The weather was okay which meant that the area was packed with lots of people and everyone seemed to be having a good time. (I can’t remember whether it was last year or the year before, but when the rain started the whole place was cleared). The pubs, bars and food stores and stands seemed to be doing a roaring trade, although many of the craft and non-food stands seemed to be quieter.
I was pleased to see that there was no hint of trouble or any disturbances this year. This was down in a large part to the wardens that had been hired especially for the event and an increased Police presence.
All in all a great day, and well done to Mary and everyone else involved in the organization.

  1. No trouble! I think you should talk to your local policing team, among other things a girl got a glass bottle over her head!

  2. This is true, but the Police did deal with it well, so credit where it is due. normally, there wouldn’t have been that sort of police presence an hour after the music ended, but a lot of prep work was done.
