After last year’s success, I am pleased to say that I am once again raising money for Movember by once again growing a moustache. Last year some people thought I’d grown it as a fashion statement so this time I’ve grown a comedy tashe for any avoidance of doubt. Cllr James Hennigan is once again trying to live out his childhood dream of being in Magnum PI with Rob Mackle and Steve Maxwell completing the team in my office.
Last year over 111,000 people across the UK raised an amazing £11.7 million. These funds have helped support The Prostate Cancer Charity’s vital work fighting prostate cancer on every front – through research, support, information and campaigning. I know that this year we can do better to help the 36,000 men that are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year in the UK.
I have raised the issue in Parliament, proposing Early Day Motion 2343 and I’m also working with my Parliamentary colleagues to highlight the work of the Mo Bro’s and why we are doing it.
Movember aim’s to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men
The funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers – prostate and testicular cancer. The funds raised are directed to programmes run directly by Movember and their men’s health partners, The Prostate Cancer Charity and the Institute of Cancer Research.
