Career opportunities and development

High levels of unemployment, both locally and nationally remain a major concern and a major challenge for the Government while we try and get the economy back on track. Unemployment among young people is particularly high, and the longer a young person goes without finding employment, the more difficult it becomes to get a job.

The Government is investing money in apprenticeships and the “youth contract” to support young people into employment.

Youth Contract

In response to the challenge of youth unemployment the Government announced a £1billion Youth Contract to help young unemployed people get a job. The Youth Contract, which launched in April 2012, will provide nearly half-a-million new opportunities through collaborations and incentives with local organisations around the UK for 18-24 year olds, including apprenticeships and voluntary work experience placements.

As a result of this government funding there are now increasing amounts of opportunities to get into work due to the incentives. For a taste of a few of these offers available and links to sites for advice on where to go next whether into apprenticeship schemes, training or full time or part time employment, read on.

It should be stressed to that all advice is given on an impartial and confidential basis, supported by independent and qualified careers advisers.

  2. Yesterday, while I was at work, my cousin stole my apple ipad and tested to see
if it can survive a thirty foot drop, just so she can be
a youtube sensation. My iPad is now broken and she has 83 views.
I know this is entirely off topic but I had to share it with someone!
